West London Wine School are excited to be joined by winemakers of the Grandes Pagos de España (GPE), to deliver a first of its kind terroir-driven course, focusing on the exceptional ‘grand crus’ of Spain. Founded in 2000, Grandes Pagos de España is an association of 34 prestigious wineries from across Spain, dedicated to single-estate production.
To celebrate the start of this exciting new venture, we proudly invite you to attend the launch date on 29th October 2024, which will give you an insight into the exceptional quality and diversity of the GPE’s wines and a taste of what the full course will have to offer.
We are thrilled to be joined by winemaker Valenti Llagostera, 5th generation custodian of Mas Doix in Priorat, and current GPE President Maria Del Yerro, of Alonso del Yerro estate in Ribera del Duero.
The day will consist of:
10.30-11.30 Masterclass: A Mosaic of Tempranillo
Join Valenti Llagostera for a guided tasting of different expressions of Tempranillo from across the GPE’s estates, discovering how terroir influences the many personalities of Spain’s most iconic red grape.
11.30-12.30 Lunch: A tapas lunch will be provided – please inform us of any dietary requirements in advance.
12.30-1.30 Masterclass: Wines of Mas Doix
Since the creation of Mas Doix in 1998, Valenti and Ramon Llagostera have been committed to creating exceptional and distinctive wines which are truly reflective of their terroir. Their old Grenache and Carignan vines are nurtured with organic viticulture and biodynamic processes to produce wines which are fresh and elegant in an increasingly challenging environment.
2.00-4.00: Walk around tasting
An opportunity to taste wines from each of the GPE’s 34 estates, showcasing the incredible diversity of their portfolio. Representatives from the GPE and West London Wine School will be on hand to discuss them with you.
Attendance is on a first come first served, RSVP basis. Please confirm by return email which parts of the day you will be able to attend. Note that space on the masterclasses is very limited and so a waiting list will be kept once these have been filled – if you are no longer able to join us, we’d be grateful if you could let us know as soon as possible.
